Our first stop was Brenham, Texas, and Blue Bell Creameries. I lived in College Station for 5 years and never made it down there to visit the famous ice cream place! The tour was the perfect length - about 45 minutes. And, the ice cream making process is really neat to watch! How much they clean the equipment is amazing. (Sidenote: If you saw the local news last night about the hair in the pint of Blue Bell Cookies 'n Cream, then know that it has to be an isolated event...they really have a sterile plant and process for making CLEAN ice cream!!)
At the end of the tour, everyone gets to go to the ice cream parlor and get a scoop of ice cream. They had 24 of their 55 flavors to choose from! What did we get?
CS - Pecan Pralines and Cream
Me - Chocolate Covered Strawberies (Yum!)
ACat and Little Bit - Krazy Kookie Dough
Smiley - Mint Chocolate Chip
Caboose - Homemade Vanilla
We had a good laugh at the end... Little Bit was eating her ice cream but obviously was trying to get some more... Sweet girl!
We were looking forward to supper that night at Los Cucos. We met some former co-workers of mine (back in my Web Editing days at A&M...). I think it has been 4 years since we have made it down to A&M and at least that long since we've seen our remaining friends who live there (most have moved away). It was lots of fun!
The next day, all but one of us got decked out in the best color ever - maroon! Little Bit just marches to the beat of her own drum, though she strongly dislikes anything burnt orange... She just wanted to wear pink on this particular day! :-) This was Caboose's first time to Aggieland...a special moment for him!
Anyway, we first went to the Bush Presidential Museum and Library. Everyone really enjoyed it! CS used to be in charge of security there, but it has been a long time since he and I have been through the Library. They have updated the exhibits some and we enjoyed going back and watching our girls explore it all.
After that, we went to Freebirds for lunch and then wandered around on campus. A friend told us about a new statue on campus - the big Aggie Ring! CS and I stood for a picture under it...we haven't done that since Ring Dance 1999! Whoop! The girls loved it and ran around that entire area for a while.
We went into the Association of Former Students Building and captured pictures of our future Aggies...ACat - Class of 2022, Smiley - Class of 2024, Little Bit - Class of 2028, and Caboose - Class of 2032!!
Too bad our littlest Aggie wasn't cooperating more for the pictures!
We attended an Aggie Baseball game that night - a little chilly but fun! The next morning, we had to head home because CS had to go to work that afternoon. But, it was a wonderful weekend for all!
The girls learned the Aggie War Hymn and learned exactly "Saw Varsity's Horns Off" means (see Kyle Field in the background??)...

Too cute! Glad y'all had fun. I think Caboose would be an ADORABLE yell leader someday! :)
What a FUN trip!!! I thoroughly enjoyed reading about it. LOVED Caboose's shoes!!! PRECIOUS!!!!
