Tonight was a special night for ACat. She sang her very first solo in the Children's Choir Christmas Program at church. They'd been asking her for a couple of years to sing a solo, but, like in several areas, she wasn't quite bbbbrrrave enough to get through it (as Pooh's friend Piglet would say).
She did a beautiful job with her clear, sweet voice singing part of a verse on "Silent Night." She made her Daddy and Mommie proud! :-)
One of the joys of parenthood is discovering each child's gifts and talents. We've known for most of ACat's life that music would be one of her talents. No surprise, considering some of her genes.
A favorite story CS and I have stored away in our hearts occurred before ACat turned one year old. As most new parents, we embraced parenthood with zeal and enrolled ACat in some Gymboree Play and Music classes in Dallas. I'm sure that is what made the difference! LOL! Anyway, one evening we were puttering around our apartment, and CS and I kept humming this little "Tick, Tock" song we had learned with ACat at Gymboree Music class. "What was the deal," we kept wondering. We usually sing and listen to better music than this! We finally realized we were singing the song because ACat was humming it while she crawled around the apartment. Perfect pitch and right on tempo. We were astounded. Those very first notes opened a door wide for her - one that has brought her - and others - many moments of enjoyment.
You've come a long way, baby girl, from your first sweet "hums," but every note you make is just as pure and special. We are so very thankful God gave us you!
Love always-
Mommie and Daddy
