For her final dance class, they handed out awards. Smiley received perfect attendance for the entire year and her 3-year trophy! She was SO excited! We love Mrs. Lynn and Smiley has bloomed the last 3 years from taking Mrs. Lynn's classes!
She had her Kidz Praise choir program the end of April. She had the best director this year - Mrs. Jennifer. I'm so glad my girls love to sing and enjoy music so much! The medal around her neck is a perfect attendance award for choir - Smiley doesn't like to miss a thing!
The Friday night following the choir program was the big dance recital. We were happy that she is old enough now to be in the Friday night recital (vs. one of the 3 recitals on Saturday)! She did a great job with her jazz dance!
The next Tuesday, Smiley had a "Share Fair" on her last day at Venture. She shared a report on horses and made a horse - all by herself - out of clay. She absolutely loves Venture and enjoys all her friends there. Her teachers handed out tie-dyed pillowcases that the kids made themselves...but to surprise the children, the teachers wrote their names on them and 2 character qualities that most described each child. Smiley was given the character qualities "Friendly" and "Generous" and I think those are pretty accurate and perfect for our Smiley Girl! One of these pictures is of her getting her pillowcase and a hug from Mrs. Sherrod.
That same night, Venture held an end-of-the-year program at a local church. The elementary kids presented a musical and did a awesome job!
I forgot to take my camera to her Awanas Awards Ceremony. Last year, we sat out of Sunday night activities. So, this year, when we started back with Awanas, Smiley was behind. Two years ago, she completed her Kindergarten book (the first of three Sparks workbooks). She had to start out this year with the second book (that some did in 1st grade). CS and I told her that we would never pressure her and she could complete whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted - low stress! Well, guess what Smiley did...she completed BOTH the second and third books in their entirety in just this one year! WOW, sweet girl! We are so proud! She got a ribbon and a trophy for that accomplishment.
For Fun...
I had to include this next picture, just for fun! There are two pictures above of Smiley and one of her good friends. Below is a picture shortly after the two girls met - 5 years ago! Don't they look so little?!?! They are such beautiful "grown-up" girls now!
