Three sweet friends and I are making our way through Romans this spring semester. What hope and life is found within these chapters! We are on Chapter 6 this week and I love the truth that once we believe in Christ we are transformed into a life that is righteous and sanctified. Our old self is dead (crucified) in Christ and that part becomes useless and worn out. It creates a vivid mental image and is a comfort because we never have to fear death. We are free! Free to enjoy fellowship with God and free to follow his will. There's a verse (v. 9) that just pumps me up:
"For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him."
He won the victory over death - once and for all! And since we, as believers, have been buried with him (v. 4), we now live a new life! How exciting!
This goes along with Ephesians 4:22-24:
"You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness."
So, that is my prayer for you, my friends and family...that you will know the new life that we can have through Him.
