We had just over 100 kids and 55 workers (adults and kids). What a great turnout! We are excited about what God is going to do this week!
It's been a little hard to sleep at night...no air conditioners around here! It does get cool at night (upper 40s), but it takes a little time for it to cool the cabins. We have been sleeping with the windows open, so the night sounds keep waking me up. But, it is alright...I am so happy to be up here!
This afternoon, we headed up to Crested Butte/Mt. Crested Butte area. What beauty! The mountains are spectacular! They are having a Wildflower Festival, and one lady said they are the prettiest they have been in several years.
We went with our friends, the Suttons, to hike around Gothic Mountain. We borrowed a backpack for Caboose and set out (even though my friend, Cindy, had a sprained or broken toe...she was a trooper!). We hiked a ways and then some of us turned around...too much for the little ones, the injured friend, and those with blisters. Amateur hikers, we are! :-) As soon as we loaded up, the sky let loose with a huge rainstorm. Those left on the trail got VERY wet and muddy!
The aspen trees...unbelievable!
Our family went on back to Crested Butte, the town. It is such a quaint place! We shopped a little and then met Ms. Lanette and her friend Cecelia for supper at Slogar's, a family style dining place. We had wonderful fried chicken and all of the fixins.
We got back to Gunnison about 8:00 last night and collapsed! Wednesday is whitewater rafting for Cindy, ACat, and Smiley...we can't wait!
