My Childhood Home

I was so fortunate as a child to grow up in one home in which my mom still lives today. It is always so peaceful to go "home" once a week for our visit with Cappie. My girls love that house and yard as much as my brother and I did. He and I spent MANY an hour playing outside in the yard and creek, which runs along side the house. It is a satisfying feeling to share my childhood home with my girls.

However, recently, my mom's house had a make-over. Not one that my mom chose, but a necessary - and very expensive - one! She could have bought a new car for what this cost! Some circumstances have taken place over the years to cause major washing of the creek bank and a huge sinkhole to form along the bank. So, it was either fork over the money to get a retaining wall and drainage system correctly put in or have the garage fall off the side of the creek. We were amazed by the final result!

The house is on the left side of the picture. There are some clear and orange bags of river rocks in the middle of the picture. This is where the creek bank used to be. So, the retaining wall extended her yard quite a bit! My girls have named it "Rocky Dirt Mountain" and are having a great time exploring through the trees and shrubs.

So, instead of driving around in a nice, new car, we now spray for mosquitos and have a nice evening sitting out on our new creek bank!
